When L. Gardner & Sons Ltd ceased volume engine production in the mid 90's, a number of ex Gardner engineers continued to supply reconditioned engines on a one-off basis, thereby demonstrating the continuing demand for the efficiency, durability and refinement of Gardner engines.

Gardner Marine Diesels came into being in 2004 to recommence the production of remanufactured engines, albeit at relatively low volumes on an on going basis. Thus a tradition of excellence dating back to 1868 is now being continued.
