We are very pleased to announce that Gardner Marine Diesels Ltd (GMD) has acquired the assets of PGE Services Ltd (PGE). PGE, based in Eccles, Greater Manchester was set up in the mid ’80s by Mr. Paul Gardner, great grandson of Lawrence Gardner, who, together with his four sons founded the legendary British diesel engine manufacturer L Gardner & Sons in the 1870’s.
For over twenty years, PGE had specialised in the provision of re-engineered engines and sub-assemblies for Gardner engines and had all the specialist skills and equipment for the most complex of engineering tasks such as fuel pump calibration and injector overhauls. Following this asset transfer, there has also been a skills’ transference programme aimed at equiping GMD staff with these specialist skills.
Michael Harrison, Director of GMD said: “This is a very significant move for us. PGE have always had an exceptional reputation in the market. Since we started our own business in 2006, they have been our exclusive supplier of fuel pumps and these have always been supplied to the highest standards. The equipment, stock and as importantly the skills being transferred to GMD will enable us to bring this crucial capability in-house. It will also expand the range of services we can offer to owners of classic Gardner engines and assist us to maintain the high standards set by PGE and the original L Gardner & Sons business.”
